Your MailChimp Content is No Longer Your Own

If you use MailChimp for email marketing or email communication, beware. Your subject matter and email copy are no longer your own. According to their updated Legal Terms, your content is subject to stringent censorship at MailChimp’s discretion. As a result, your account risks suspension or even deactivation, potentially without warning.

Per MailChimp’s Legal Terms:

MailChimp…does not allow the distribution of Content that is, in our sole discretion, materially false, inaccurate, or misleading in a way that could deceive or confuse others about important events, topics, or circumstances….If you violate any of these rules, then we may issue a warning to, suspend, or terminate your account.
MailChimp Legal Terms updated 10/28/20

In light of MailChimp’s blatant and discretionary email censorship practices, you may be seeking an alternative email campaign platform. Here are four highly-rated and cost-effective alternatives for email marketing.

Alternatives to MailChimp for Email Marketing
MailerLIte alternative to Mailchimp for Email MarketingMailerLite

Do not be misled by the name. According to the company, “we offer powerful solutions that are far from “lite” versions. Lite is more than part of our name, it’s our way of thinking.”

This affordable email marketing app comes with two generous entry-level plans: a free plan, and an upgraded tier for $10/month. Both include up to 1,000 subscribers. The free version has some limitations (no email templates, for example), while the next level includes plenty of generous features. MailerLite comes highly recommended by email marketers as an affordable and user-friendly solution.

Campaign MonitorCampaign Monitor alternative to Mailchimp for email marketing

Campaign Monitor features a streamlined interface with gorgeous templates. Campaign Monitor is one of our preferred email marketing platforms for clients. Not only is it easy to use, but it also includes multi-device previews, a lengthy list of email client previews, and a handy spam-checker. Campaign Monitor’s amply reasonable pricing starts at $9/month for up to 2,500 email sends, or $29/month for unlimited campaigns. As an alternative, users can choose to pay per-campaign at an affordable $5/campaign + .01/recipient.

Fat Cat Design - alternatives to Mailchimp - SenInBlueSendInBlue

Sendinblue combines the best of email, SMS, and chat tools into one platform, so you don’t have to have a huge marketing budget or team to reach new customers.
This powerful and extendable marketing and CRM app is loaded with features. Create email newsletters from professional-looking templates, or build from scratch with a drag-and-drop editor. You can also do A/B testing, so you can test which message resonates with

The free plan starts with 300 emails per day, drag-and-drop builder, template library, personalization, SMS marketing, and even a chat integration for your website.

Constant Contact alternative to Mailchimp for email marketingConstant Contact

Boasting a strong following, Constant Contact has been around for a long time. In addition to longevity, it has endless resources to assist with email marketing, including advisors and small-business advisors, along with an online community. Pricing is heftier than others, starting at $20/month for unlimited sends, but it appears to be a preferred platform for many users.

Wrapping Up

Unfortunately, online censorship is now rampant. If you are a professional who is seeking alternatives to your email marketing platform, give one of these options a try.
